CHIARA BIN (English) (Italian)

After studying ballet since childhood at Scuola Tersicore Città di Gorizia under the artistic direction of Corinna Brandolin Prandi de Ulmhort, she started learning Irish ceili dancing in Triest in 1999; she later moved to Milan to attend Irish step dance courses and private lessons run by Esther Bromley, Sinead Venables, Kathleen Klifford e Sinéad Lightley. She has also attended Irish dance workshops in Ireland studying with Michael Patrick Gallagher, Carol Leavy Joyce and teachers of the South Sligo Summer School.
While in Milan she joined various performing groups shch as Tara Dance Company, Gens d’Ys and Ethnica Dance Company and performed at numerous festivals and events, often dancing to live music by famous groups and musicians including Whisky Trail, Inis Fáil, Folk Studio A, FBA, Patrick Molard and Marco Fabbri.
In 2001 in Triest she danced in Gli Ulissidi, a show by Elena Vitas and Teatro Stabile La Contrada depicting the friendship between Irish writer James Joyce and Italian writer Italo Svevo in early 19th-century Triest.
In 2003 she contributed to the setting up of an Italian-based Irish dance company, Gan Ainm Irish Dancers, for whom she has always been a choreographer and teacher as well as a performer.
As a member of Gan Ainm Irish Dancers she has taken part in well-known Italian music festivals and dance events such as Folkest and Triskell and has cooperated with Irish music groups Indovinatoduo and Tattwa. Her most successful experience with Gan Ainm Irish Dancers was in April 2007 when she performed live at popular Italian TV programme La Corrida presenting an Irish dance choreography specifically designed for the occasion. The performance was particularly appreciated by the audience and it still is.
She has taught Irish dancing in schools and associations in Italy and she holds ceili dancing courses in Triest for Associazione Bardi a Nord.
